AI Being Used To Prevent Students From Daydreaming In China
The Chinese education system is testing out AI in the classroom. And their way of using it seems to be greatly influenced by NS (Natural Stupidity).
They’re using AI to monitor students’ attention, and then score them on how well they concentrate. Stressful, you say? Yeah, just a bit I imagine.

Doesn’t it seem like a better idea to take the attention span data the AI outputs and use it to determine the optimal times to present information so as to maximize understanding and retention? I mean, instead of using it to stress students out (not the most conducive thing to learning) through forced conformity, why not use the data to improve how education is implemented and how teachers teach? Hell, do we even need teachers for every subject?
And how much more life does traditional schooling have in it anyway? We already live in a world where virtually anyone can learn virtually anything for free on the internet. We already have social media algorithms that get people hopelessly addicted. Why aren’t those being used for education? (Well they are actually, at least indirectly, if they happen to lead you to more and more educational videos, for example.)
And how many points do they get for those creative eureka moments best cultivated through daydreaming?
Oh, well. The REALLY smart kids will hack the things anyway.
